The traditional Tarot deck is a collection of 78 illustrated cards, speculated to have originated in the 15th century or even earlier. On the surface level, the decks were used as playing cards for mere entertainment. Yet under closer inspection, the illustrations reveal a profound archetypal language, speaking to a universal story of humankind’s heroic journey to find meaning in this complex universe.
Although hundreds of decks have been re-imagined by different artists over the years, the meaning of the individual cards remains consistent. 22 cards comprise the Major Arcana (Big Secret) and the other 56 cards make up the Minor Arcana (Little Secret).
The “Bearded Journey Tarot” deck is a black and white version of my original illustrated deck called “Journey of the Bearded Tarot”. As in the original deck, these cards can be laid out in a linear fashion, following the lineup of this website, revealing several hidden journeys through both Major and Minor Arcana.
The deck serves as a way to view life, moment to moment, from a multitude of perspectives, giving insight into that which might normally remain hidden. Take part in the "Bearded Journey Tarot" alone or with others.
0- Fool: A Carefree youth with very little experience takes trusting steps into the unknown. His uninhibited approach to the world is filled with adventure. The Fool will be confronted with many challenges that are necessary steps into maturity. He is watched closely by spirit guides, ready to help along the way.
Ace of Water: Ready to start the initiation into the world of emotions, a Caring mentor offers gifts to begin the journey. Feelings of enthusiasm accom-pany this passage into the unknown. A willingness to be vulnerable is key to enter-ing this new phase of life.
Ace of Air: Passed on Knowledge at times may appear clear as a map. If these instructions ring true, let them guide you to the next step. If the advice seems off the mark thank the messenger and move on. Know that what works for one person may not work for another.
Ace of Fire: Creative Inspiration often comes unexpectedly and in strange forms. This can happen at any time in one’s life. How these gifts of insight are nurtured and allowed to blossom are up to oneself. Opportunities are rare and fleeting, so take hold of these rare moments.
Ace of Earth: Clarity of purpose is needed for the journey through the labyrinth of the daily grind. It is essential to have a reality check regularly to see if the heart and mind are connected to spirit. It is up to an individual to find what is grounded firmly to support their full potential and what is not.
